Dear Mr. VP,
As I drove down the highway today listening to NPR, I thought about Trump’s visit to Singapore to meet with Kim Jong Un. His interactions with world leaders are going so well this week. What could go wrong?
I pondered nuclear war for a bit, and considered stocking up on canned goods. I thought about pulling out my go-to apocalypse survival manual:
Maybe it’s time to brush up.
Then I thought….what’s the worry here, really? Trump is talking about how he hopes he’ll like the North Korean leader, and how maybe if things go well he’ll have him to the White House. Given recent history, it’ll just be a matter of time before Trump is inviting North Korea to join the G-7 while simultaneously tweeting about Angela Merkel’s haircut and how our allies are “robbing us blind” or something like that. We seem to want our enemies closer and our friends….well, do we even want friends?
