Dear Mr. VP,
This morning, I sat at the breakfast table, reading a Providence Journal article. I’m not going to find it now, because the Providence Journal makes you take a quiz to read their content, and I don’t feel like answering questions about whether I’m the primary decision maker about the cars in my household. So this will be paraphrased rather than directly quoted.
The article was about Trump’s reaction to the Don Lemon/Lebron James interview. Trump tweeted “Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do.” Both James and Lemon are African-American, as you know.
This is on the heels of an attack on African-American Congresswoman Maxine Waters, calling her “low IQ.”
The Providence Journal posed that maybe, perhaps…maybe? This could be a dog whistle to white supremacists.
Really? GOSH. Whoda thunk it! Repeatedly calling people of color stupid, a dog whistle to white supremacists? Amazing insight.
I look forward to the day we can all stop hedging and just call out exactly what’s happening: our president is a white supremacist and he goes out of his way to garner support from white supremacists. Full stop.
