Dear Mr. VP,
The rhetoric currently being circulated about Judge Kavanaugh is so unbelievably damaging.
“He was just seventeen! He was drunk!”
Imagine, telling a young woman that a teenage boy’s behavior is allowed because he’s young. Meanwhile, in many places, that young woman is repeatedly shamed for any sort of CONSENSUAL sexual behavior, real or perceived: parental consent laws for abortion, lack of access to birth control, dress codes that make teenage girls believe their bodies are an issue. Told that if she chooses to have sex as a teenager, she should have to live with the consequences. Seems like there’s some sort of issue of double standard going on here, wouldn’t you say?
