Dear Mr. VP,
Last week, someone asked Chuck Grassley why more women aren’t on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
“It’s a lot of work — maybe they don’t want to do it,” Grassley said. “My chief of staff of 33 years tells me we’ve tried to recruit women and we couldn’t get the job done.”
Here’s why my letter today is short:
It’s Sunday. I spent my morning doing work for my second job as a college counselor and essay specialist, while I also sent off a few emails for my first job, the one I do full-time. At 1, I retrieved my kid from his dad and commenced by all-the-time-job of parenting. At 7, I bribed my kid with Pokemon on the iPhone so I could keep working my second job; I had a half an hour meeting with a student who’s having her college interview this week. At 8, I put my kid to bed, and commenced work on a third gig, reading scholarship applications, and I’m still mid-that while I do this fourth thing, the thing where I write to you every day.
In conclusion, Chuck Grassley, you can kindly shut your mouth now.
